Data we collect

We only collect what the app needs to work and improve. Everything below is linked to your account but is never used to track you.

• Email address — to create and secure your account.
• First name — to personalize your experience (shown in the app).
• Precise location — to find monuments around you, show the map and weather, and alert you to nearby landmarks. Used only while you grant permission.
• Photos you take in the app (“souvenir” photos) — saved to your history and, if you choose, to your photo library.
• Usage statistics — anonymous-by-default events to understand which features are used and improve the app.
• Crash diagnostics — reports that help us fix problems and keep ScanTrip stable.

How we use your data

• Provide the core experience: identifying monuments, descriptions, the audio guide, the map, translation and your travel journal.
• Adapt content to your language and your location.
• Improve the app through aggregated statistics and crash diagnostics.
• Secure your account and prevent abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.

Service providers

To deliver its features, ScanTrip relies on a few trusted providers that process limited data on our behalf, each only for its specific purpose:

• Supabase — account, database and storage (your account, history and photos).
• OpenAI — generates the description of the monument you photograph.
• Google (Places & Street View) — finds nearby landmarks and provides their details and photos.
• OpenWeather — provides local weather.
• ElevenLabs — provides the audio-guide voice.
• DeepL — powers the translation feature.
• Mixpanel (EU servers) — privacy-aware usage statistics; you can opt out.
• Sentry — crash diagnostics; you can opt out.

These providers are bound by their own privacy and security commitments and receive only the data needed for their function.

Tracking & advertising

ScanTrip does not track you. We use no advertising identifiers, no ad networks, and we do not link your activity across other companies’ apps or websites. Statistics are used solely to improve ScanTrip and can be turned off in the app.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. On-device caches (photos, text and audio) expire automatically after 30 days. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data and associated photos.

Your rights & choices

• Access, correct or export your data by contacting us.
• Turn off statistics and crash diagnostics in the app settings.
• Revoke camera, location or photo permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
• Delete your account and all its data directly from the app (Profile → Delete account).

Children

ScanTrip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date above.
